Remember my last update? I was halfway through the rough draft of a new book.
Well…I hit a brick wall after that. The wall called writer’s block. But really it was more than that. I realized my story had no direction. It wasn’t going anywhere, and the joy of writing was waning. I had no gas left in the tank.
So, as hard as it was, I decided to shut the door on that story for now. I don’t like abandoning a project, especially after getting so far and putting in so much time. But I think this was a healthy decision for me. I may go back to that story someday and rewrite it. Or maybe an idea for it will come when I’m not expecting it.
But for now, I’m taking a new direction. Actually, I’m kind of going back. There’s a story I started writing last year that keeps gnawing at me. It’s really heavy on my heart to write this one. In fact, I’ve already tried to write it three different times without good results. But I started over from scratch, and I’m going to see where it goes. This story is one that just won’t leave me alone, even when I step away from it. So I’m both nervous and excited to dive in and see how God can use it. Please pray with me that the words I write will be inspired by Him and pleasing in His sight.
I’ve given myself a tentative goal of finishing the rough draft by the end of the year. We’ll see how it goes! In the meantime, my other books are out in the world and ready to be read. Click here to go to my Amazon page if you want to check them out!
As always, thank you for reading my words. I’m so thankful for you! I hope you have a beautiful day. Keep on the sunny side!
XOXO
